Grant Funding Received To Support
First Responder & AED Program
The Crivitz Rescue Squad has been awarded grant funding from the M & M Area Community Foundation to assist with the funding of their First Responder & Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Program. Crivitz Rescue Squad, Inc. is a volunteer based, non-profit emergency medical services (EMS) organization servicing the Crivitz Area and surrounding communities.
A significant problem that Crivitz’s area faces is the need for rapid access to healthcare providers in the event of an emergency. This is complicated by the rural nature of the communities that they serve as well as the large geographic area that Crivitz Rescue covers. In response to this problem, Crivitz Rescue has created a First Responder and automated external defibrillator (AED) program to provide those in need with faster care. To provide a quicker response to emergency calls Crivitz Rescue’s first responders are equipped with radios, pagers, oxygen, trauma supplies, and advanced airway equipment. These first responders respond directly to the scene of an emergency in their personal vehicles.
Crivitz Rescue has also supplied our first responders who reside in certain areas with AEDs, based on strategic geographic locations throughout our service area. The goal of this project is to provide our community with faster response times, better advanced care, and to increase the chances of survival for patients in sudden cardiac arrest.
Grant funding provided by the M & M Area Community Foundation allowed Crivitz Rescue to purchase additional two-way radio and paging equipment. Crivitz Rescue provides all members with pagers and radios so that they can be notified of 911 calls that require our assistance, even when they are not on duty. Communications is an extremely important component in the organization. Early communication from a first responder on scene between our ambulance, hospitals, and other responders can often have a great impact on the early management of a 911 call. Thanks to the assistance of M & M Area Community Foundation this program will continue to grow and evolve.
The M & M Area Community Foundation is a non-profit organization with public charity status serving all of Marinette County, WI and Menominee County, MI, since 1994. They were incorporated in 1994 primarily through the efforts of David Higley, Don Gehrke, and We Hoffman, three members of the Menominee Rotary Club, which made the first donations to the Foundation's permanent endowment. Investment earnings from their $1,3000,000 endowment are used to make grants to a wide range of non-profit, charitable, and volunteer organizations in the service area. They have no political or religious ties, and are free to work on behalf of all segments of the communities. Interested donors are encouraged to contact the foundation at 1101 11th Ave., P.O.
